Who is yoga for?

Yoga is for the person who wants to practice. I teach yoga to those who want to learn and play. I want you to feel strong, but also enjoy the ease of the practice. Living between effort and ease I encourage you to find your unique balance between discipline and play.

Your body has a story like no one else. Your yoga practice is equally unique.

Benefits of Yoga

Improves strength, balance and flexibility

Slow movements and deep breathing increase blood flow and warm the muscles.. While holding postures, strength is created and small muscles work together to keep you balanced.

Aids in managing stress

According to the National Institutes of Health, scientific evidence shows yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss, and healthy sleep.

Relaxes and helps you sleep better

Research shows that a consistent bedtime yoga practice can help participants fall asleep and stay asleep.

Connects you to a supportive community

Participating in yoga classes can ease loneliness and provide an environment for group healing and support. Even during one-on-one sessions, the connection made with a personal yoga plan allows you to feel acknowledged as a unique individual.

My Yoga Story

My first yoga class in college, over 20 years ago. Although I remember being introduced to yogic principals in high school, it wasn’t until college that I took a class. The class was at the university gym and it was packed with different types of people.

My idea was that yoga meant “stretching,” and as a former dancer I was quite flexible. I was eager to show my bendy skills. When taking the class however, I realized that yoga was so much more. It tested my balance and truly humbled me in the areas I assumed to be strong.

I took classes on and off during my 20s, but it wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first son that I began to develop a practice. I did yoga while pregnant until I was 38 weeks. I recall coming into full wheel, with a baby nearly cooked and thinking, maybe I shouldn’t practice this particular posture.

My practice has evolved from powerful, to gentle, to humble to now grateful and compassionate. Its a practice that shifts with the various stages of my life.

It is with immense gratitude that I teach and practice. Regardless of posture, maintain gratitude for body, time and presence.
